Skin Lotion |
A lotion is used for external application to the body usually on the skin. Depending on their use, they may be medicated or non-medicated. Most lotions are oil-in-water emulsions but water-in-oil lotions are also formulated. As they are applied to the external skin, they are applied with hands, cloth and cotton wool.
Lotions can be used for providing medications in the form of antibiotics, antiseptics
antifungals, anti-acne agents etc. If they are not used in the form of medication, then they are used in the form of facial care, skin care, body massage, masturbation etc.
As lotions are less viscous in nature than creams and ointments they have several advantages in terms of application of medication as well as covering a large area of the skin. Not only that, they can also be applied to more hairy regions of the body such as on the forehead. Medicated shampoos used to treat dandruff and other ailments are another example.
